Twitter for Android testing UI changes to show retweets with comments separately

The android Twitter app appears to be testing a small UI change that will allow users to see more information about Retweets in a clearer way.
However, Twitter does provide for a way to separately see how many retweets contained comments and how many did not.
Twitter has apparently realised this and is testing a way to show both the commented retweets and non-commented retweets separately.
In the new UI, commented retweets will be shown in a different row.
Tapping on either of the retweets will show a new window with two tabs; one showing the commented retweets and the non-commented retweets.

Reliance Jio starts rolling out VoWiFi service in Delhi and Chennai

Recently, Airtel started testing WiFi Calling (VoWiFi) in several cities in India and later officially launched the service. Following Airtel’s launch, Reliance Jio has now started rolling out WiFi Calling facility in Chennai and Delhi-NCR. Several users in Chennai have reported that they are seeing ‘Jio WiFi’ icon or a similar WiFi Calling icon on their smartphones. Although Airtel WiFi Calling worked with all Wi-Fi networks during the testing phase, it is now restricted to Airtel Broadband users. Also, some users have reported that Jio VoWiFi is working with Airtel mobile hotspot too.

Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3a series get Astrophotography with Google Camera v7.2 update

Google had confirmed earlier that Pixel 3 series would get Astrophotography, that was announced along with Pixel 4. The update is now coming out for Pixel devices via Google Camera v7.2 through the play store, up from the Google Camera v6.3. Astrophotography is only available to Pixel 3 and 3a series and not the older devices. Although first gen Pixel and Pixel 2 series will not officially get Astrophotography capabilites, a user named cstark27 on XDA developers has created a mod apk file of Google Camera to unofficial enable this feature. Although results will clearly not be the same as the new Pixel devices.

LG cancels MWC 2020 event over coronavirus concerns [Update: ZTE will participate as planned]

Earlier this week GSMA that conducts Mobile World Congress (MWC) events every year announced that it continues to monitor and assess the potential impact of the Coronavirus and said that there is minimal impact on the event. It confirmed that MWC event will happen in Barcelona from 24 to 27, February 2020 as planned. Today LG has announced that they are cancelling their MWC events this year. Sony, HMD Global and Vivo have confirmed their MWC events already. Update: Even though some reports said that ZTE will not attend MWC, ZTE has confirmed that it will participate in MWC2020 as planned, showcasing 5G end-to-end solutions and a wide variety of 5G devices.

Apple supplier Salcomp buys defunct Nokia Chennai Plant, to invest $300 million in five years

It has been over 5 years since Nokia’s Sriperumbudur plant shut down production due to a tax dispute. Now, Finnish based firm Salcomp, manufacturer of chargers/adapters for mobile phones and other electronics for companies like Apple, has bought the defunct plant for about Rs. Salcomp already operates two units in the Sriperumbudur SEZ zone having close to 7000 employees with the new factory said to add over 10000 jobs. Apple’s components is about 60% in the 1.1 million sq ft plant — and the balance would be for others including Foxconn, Xiaomi, Vivo and OPPO, according to ET report. These decisions add to the larger strategy of Apple in expanding production in India for the local and global markets.

With the launch of the Android 11 Developer Preview for Pixel devices, Google is showing its commitment towards making user location data more safe and transparent to users. One of the main changes that users will see with Android 11 is the ability to share location access to an app just that one time. Before that, users could only either turn location access on or off.
